Johanna Gullichsen
Based in Helsinki, Johanna Gullischsen creates timeless products using natural fibres and traditional Finnish weaving techniques. Beautiful and durable.
Behind the Brand
Textile designer Johanna Gullichsen studied weaving techniques at Porvoo Crafts School in Finland. Inspired by traditional handcrafts, she developed a unique style using the loom to express her creativity. In 1989, she founded her textile studio and now produces high-quality woven fabrics, homeware products and fashion accessories.
Woven to last
By combining robust upholstery and Nordic design, Johanna Gullichsen pieces not only endure physically, they are timeless in design. She works with natural fibres and age-old traditions to create textiles that blend seamlessly into modern interiors with graphic patterns and luxurious textures. Working closely with local weaving mills and sewing ateliers, she makes understated Nordic classics to last a lifetime.
With the Environment in Mind
Making textiles with traditional methods is a conscious decision designed to reject throwaway consumerism and respect the planet. Their woven textiles are made with organic fibres, are never treated with chemicals, and are dyed in Finland using environmentally friendly processes. Johanna Gullichsen only works with environmentally certified partners and traders, companies who share the same values and ethos.
