Behind the Brand
Founded in Vienna in 1923 by Dr Béla Horovitz and Ludwig Goldscheider, Phaidon was established to produce elegant books at affordable prices. When the Nazis arrived in Austria, the company was forced to relocate to England, where they continued to publish large-format art books. Phaidon is now an international company publishing books on all aspects of the creative arts, including architecture, design, photography, interior design, travel, and food.
